Sport Sponsors Climate Pledge calls on sponsors to make a greater commitment to the climate

ChangeNOW, 17 Sport and Fair Play For Planet have strengthened the Sport Sponsors Climate Pledge, calling on sports sponsors to make a greater commitment to the climate.

How can the scale of major international sporting events (GESI) be reconciled with today's climate challenges? All stakeholders can change their practices, become more involved and more responsible. This includes sponsors, whose financial support makes these events possible. Last May, during ChangeNOW, a letter of commitment called the Sport Sponsors Climate Pledge was published by the show and 17 Sport, aiming to establish a link "between the financial support of committed sponsors and the performance of the sponsored sports organization in reducing carbon emissions." 4 companies signed up: EDF, Orange, Accor and Sodexo.

7 months later, Fair Play For Planet joined the movement, and the 3 entities wished to strengthen the initiative and call on sports sponsors to reinforce their climate commitment ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
