The club was founded as an association in 1998 under the name Bordeaux Gironde Hockey 2000, following the bankruptcy of the Bordeaux Gironde Hockey Club, a team nicknamed the "Dogues." It was renamed Bordeaux Gironde Hockey sur Glace (BGHG) in 2007.

In 2014, the first team turned professional, adopting the name Boxers de Bordeaux, while BGHG continued to manage the youth teams and the Division 3 (fourth level in France).

In the 2023/2024 season, the Boxers finished as Vice-Champions of France!

The Boxers train and play their home games at the Mériadeck Ice Rink, which has a capacity of 3,500 seats, located in the eponymous neighborhood in the center of Bordeaux.
