FRANCE CULTURE - JULIEN PIERRE, FROM RUGBY TO ECOLOGY

When he retired as a rugby player in 2018, Julien Pierre turned his career around and created a label to distinguish sports clubs and events committed to the environment. Interview.

Accomplished sportsman and now ecology advocate, that's Julien Pierre's singular reconversion. For the past three years, the former rugby player has been helping clubs, venues and sporting events to reduce their carbon footprint. To this end, he has created the Fair Play For Planet label.

To date, this distinction has been awarded to some thirty structures, both professional and non-professional. They include Section paloise, Olympique lyonnais, Brest Bretagne Handball and the Serge Charles ice rink in Wasquehal (Nord). All achieved a score of at least 40/100 on the 350-question scale drawn up in conjunction with the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (Ademe).
